What is an Entrepreneur?
A person who starts a business or businesses, taking on financial risks in the hope of making a profit. The term entrepreneur is also used to describe innovative individuals working in nonbusiness settings, such as nonprofit organizations and social movements; these individuals are often called social entrepreneurs or intrapreneurs.
People with an entrepreneurial spirit usually enjoy challenge and like to win. They are able to develop and implement new ideas that improve products, services or processes in their businesses to attract more customers and increase market share. They have a strong work ethic and are expert at motivating others to help achieve their goals.
Starting a business is hard work, and anyone who tells you otherwise probably has never tried it for themselves. It requires long hours, sacrifice and the ability to deal with many pitfalls.
